Hi,
Motivated by the "wallpapers" and "computer stupid Laser membership"
discussion on the Mailing List, I developed a new opening page for
drLaser - with a big photo.
This opener is very interactive. It's a game. It's a test. It grades
your knowledge of Laser people and organizations of 2000. It's even an
NA Districts e-mail directory. From "Who's the author of 'Cheat the
nursing home, Die on your Laser'?" to "Who's leading in Grand Prix
points in NA?" ... from "Who the heck is 'MM'?" to "Who is the defender
of all Class volunteers?", a lot of information is there. And with
tongue in cheek, it shows that we are not that "computer stupid."
It's in fact technologically too complex (with music, warning sounds and
message, etc.), so it may present problems for some browsers. LET ME
KNOW, with details.
I tested it on Netscape Communicator 4.61, Navigator 4.08, 3.04, 3.01,
Internet Explorer 5 and 4 and Opera 3.60. It will work as intended only
on the Netscapes with "pure" JavaScript 1.2. Other browsers use
workarounds. Also, the preferred monitor resolution is 1024 x 768 but
the page will do just fine on 800x600. Smaller monitors can skip the
test and just enter the site with no play.
This is the fourth opener page. The four will keep us going for a while,
one for each quarter. So that means I can generate content!

3. The best self-help article on upwind kinetics and steering,
(using SailCoach video and Daniel Forster photography)
