lets try another analogy:
j-29's. They come in several formats with the same hull shape. you can have
one of 4 designs. Mast head with an outboard motor. Masthead with an
inboard. Fractional with an inboard, Fractional with an outboard. But all
have identical hull shapes. By your logic, the J-35, which does not have the
same hull shape is then not a J-boat. Right? So it is not deserving of the
J name?
