Carolle was also first Master at the 1983 North Americans. Carolle was a
very staight competitor. We swapped boats between races to see if our
relative performances on the race course might in part be due to equipment
differences. It wasn't.
The best advice she gave me was to "get your head out of the boat", to pay
less attention to my compass and more to where I was with respect to my
competiion and the fleet.
I seldom carried the compass on the Laser after that and my performance
was the better for it.
