Keith, you have another reason for remembering Susan Pegler because she
lead the US Masters after the first day at Charleston in May, 1997. This
caused one of the visitors, who clearly had a good understanding of local
mores, to exclaim "if Susan is still leading after the last race we'll
never be invited back to the Carolina YC". As I remember James Jacobs
prevailed and another Star sailor, John McCausland was not far behind.
And Susan predictably was right up at the top when the regatta ended
after we waited for the seabreeze to come in on Saturday afternoon.
And forgive me for reminding you that the first, and only Olympian was
none other than another modest ex-Brit who was of course last Olympian
too. But as Bob Saltmarsh told me once you take everyone you can.
Happy holidays. And I sure hope Susan makes the Millenium US Masters at
Fishing Bay YC October 13-15. Stay tuned for a prliminary NOR!

She dominated. I bet if you tracked every Laser race held in North America For a year, lightweights would win more than their 'fare' share.
