I thought my #`167477 was a new boat, after 22 years with the same boat, and
I haven't even been out to the ocean yet, nor sailed in over 15 kts, but the
pop rivets are going already. So, I guess the Laser remains a
rebuild-it-yourself boat in that respect. And no, I never broke a mast in 27
years of Lasering. I did wear out one of those original Harken hexarachets
which were guaranteed for life at the time they were sold, when the class
first permitted them. It seems like it was more than 20 years ago when that
happened; I'm not sure I understand the remarks about Laser gear changing so
much in 20 years.
