I have never bent a boom. I think bent booms are from Slam dunks with too
much vang on.
What I cannot understand is why people want to have telephome poles for booms
instead of realizing that there is a limit to how much vang makes any sense.
If you are vanging hard enough to bend the boom you are also sailing way
slower than those sailors who have the proper amount of vang.
