re:velocity header- that's backwards

Correct me if I'm wrong:

I'm sailing along on Lake Dillon desperately trying to achieve some sort of
groove. The wind is blowing 20 kts approximately 45 degrees off my bow. The
vector sum of my foreword boatspeed/direction and the true wind
speed/direction makes my apparent wind slightly forward and slightly
stronger than the true wind. True to Lake Dillon form, the true wind dies
to zero in about 1 second. My immediate apparent wind (still equal to the
vector sum of true wind velocity and boat velocity where velocity equals
both speed and direction) becomes equal and opposite to my boat velocity.
Thus, my apparent wind is directly on my bow at my boat speed. At this
point it doesn't matter what direction I turn my boat , the wind will still
stream directly aft until my speed bleeds off to zero, or in true Lake
Dillon form, the wind fills in from a broad reach on the opposite tack at 20
kts. Assuming the wind is still zero I've just experienced a "velocity
Header" of extreme proportion. Thus, A velocity header occurs When the true
wind lightens and the apparent wind goes forward, not aft.

Have I misunderstood something?

Jim
