Laser Sailors-
I think that you are missing something. Just because you do not have to join
the class to benefit from the class organization, doesn't mean that membership
is not worth it. If the Laser did not have a class organization (supported by
some of the Laser Sailors), none of us would be racing Lasers today- at
Nationals, at Worlds, at Opens, or 200 yards from home. The Laser is a great
boat and it's popularity over 30 years is partly because it is so fun to sail
and race, but one design Laser races would not be happening today without a
class organization.
Even if you don't belong, you benefit immensely from the class. Think about
it. Join the class, it is worth it to support the boat.
