Well said that man!

Hi all,
I don't usually get involved with this side of things but this time I have
something to say.

In my humble opinion Jon Slocum is absolutely right. Any, read ANY part
bought from an authorised Laser dealer; made by an authorised Laser workshop
is legal. The new sail on an old mast analogy is perfect.

The blade question is the same. The Laser class approved both blade
thickness and they both fit in the template. Why the change was made in the
first place in a one-design boat I don't know but the result is the same.

What about hollow aluminium tillers? They are lighter than those lovely bits
of mahogany of yore... why don't you ban those? they are much lighter...

> It may not be considered very sportsman-like, but it should be legal.

What is unsportsman like about getting rid of that rattle-and-hum? It's only
a blade - it's not like using a bigger sail or raising the mast step.

My final point is:

Staying on the subject of blades.
When one sailor has less blade in the water sailing on the same bearing,
same tack, same race, almost identical position is he gaining advantage over
the other by using a different profile?

Of course he is!. I', sticking to my old blade. It's quieter and it's LEGAL.

Less bitching and more sailing please!

Jon
