The boards were not well controlled in the manufacturing process before about
1982. The 33 mm template is built to the rule which is 30 mm plus or minus 3
mm.

The new blades are built raght at 30. all the supplied blades since about
boat # 100,000 have been 30 mm

the plus minus was for a builder slop tolerance.

we do not need the tolerance for the last twenty years production

the class does not get a vote on builder quality except with our checkbooks

in my opinion a blade that exactly meets the spec for 20 yyears in a row is
incredible.
