Re: Radial Halyard

In: "Laser Sailing for the 1990s" by Dick Tillman [1991, ISBN 0-87742-294-X]
see pp. 147-151: 'The Story Behind the Laser Radial' -- Hans Fogh interview.
Hans Fogh, creator of the Laser Radial sail, discusses the design of his
radial sail with the mast topper and halyard which is identical to the one that
I have.

Regarding a communication from Fred Schroth, "i seem to remember
something about the halyard system causing mast failure. Everybody started
tying it off to keep from breaking things," I can see how that design might
cause mast failure. Right now, I my check book says "NO" to the purchase
of a new sail and the Radial that I do have really hasn't had much use And I
really do like it in spite of the shortcomings of the halyard setup. Thank you
for your other comments, Fred.

My hull is an oldie and if memory serves me correct, my sail number (which I
haven't applied to my radial at this time) is 7886.
